Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is seeking two Shop Services Assistants to join our Facilities Department. Under general direction from a Facilities Shop Supervisor, they will performs a variety of routine work associated with the areas of machining, maintenance, electrical, and/or carpentry.
These positions are temporary, casual, non-exempt and eligible for casual benefits.

Physical Requirements
Physical duties for this position include but are not limited to, ability to lift 25-50 lbs independently, up to 10 times per day; carry 25-50 lbs, up to 10 times per day. Visual abilities to include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing requirements include the ability to hear and respond to instructions, and communicate effectively in loud areas (pier/dock, warehouse). Other physical tasks include talking, working around others and with others, frequent prolonged standing/walking; use of hands for basic /fine grasping and manipulation, reaching above and below the shoulders, pulling, pushing, kneeling, bending, twisting, stooping, and climbing ladders/stools. Will be exposed to grease and oils, dust or other irritants, electrical/mechanical/power equipment hazards. Physical duties are subject to change.
