Harbor Health Services is seeking a talented Health Insurance Financial Counselor to join our team at the Harbor Community Health Center in Hyannis.
Role:
The Health Insurance Financial Counselor provides patients with information and education regarding health and dental insurance, whether their own or by enabling them to obtain insurance coverage; advocacy and liaison services with insurance providers; assists patients with completing and processing of insurance applications and related paperwork.
Position is 20 hours weekly and is offered with a full benefits package! Hours can be flexible within health center hours of operation.

Responsibilities:
• Evaluates patient data and makes determination of eligibility for specific insurer(s) program(s), including HSN (Health Safety Net) in accordance with program guidelines.
• Provides information to consumers about the full range of Qualified Health Plan (QHP) options and insurance affordability programs for which they are eligible.
• Assists patients with completing all required documentation for enrollment in accordance with program guidelines.
• Assists patients with Assister portal to create new application and/or complete existing application.
• Processes all required paper work and enters pertinent information into appropriate systems daily in accordance with program guidelines.
• Validates and edits as necessary that data is accurate and timely in the correct systems.
• Provides on-going advocacy between patient and insurer as required.
• Educates health center staff on the forms and requirements of the program.
• Edits and makes entries to both the automated and manual systems as necessary for corrections to addresses name changes, dependents, etc.
• Manages correspondence received from MassHealth.
• Completes ongoing training provided by MassHealth and the Health Connector.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience in a professional office environment, (may substitute bilingual capacity for year of experience)
• CAC (Certified Application Counselor) Certification required within 30 days of employment (company will assist with training)
• Excellent data entry skills, organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills
• Third party billing experience preferred
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with culturally diverse populations
• Bilingual English/Portuguese highly desired
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred and experience with MassHealth and Health Connector desired
